To gain access to the Ware Lab you must take a safety quiz(zes) and score an 85 or higher to pass. The site contains access to quizzes for “Ware Lab General Safety”, “Ware Lab Machine Shop Safety” and “Ware Lab Welding Shop Safety”. The Ware Lab General Safety Quiz is REQUIRED for ALL STUDENTS that plan to work in the Ware Lab. The Machine and Welding Shop quizzes are REQUIRED for ALL STUDENTS that are have been given permission by the Ware Lab manager and shop supervisor to use these areas.
The on-line safety quizzes can be accessed by Virginia Tech students using Scholar by doing the following:
1- Go to https://scholar.vt.edu/portal and log into Scholar using your standard PID and password:
2- Click on the “My Workspace” tab in the upper left corner of the page:
3- Click the “Membership” button under the Home column on the left side of the page:
4- Click on the “Joinable Sites” inside the “Membership” window:
5- Search for “Ware Lab” in the search window. When it appears press “join”. Now you are a member of the Ware Lab Scholar site:
6- Now the site should appear either as a tab with the user’s “My Workspace” tab or the “My Active Sites” tab.
Once you have joined the site, you can follow the instructions on the Ware Lab Site homepage to take the necessary quizzes.
NOTE: You do not need to repeat this process each time you enter Scholar once you are a site member.
