Seminars will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the opportunities and resources available at Virginia Tech as well as what companies expect of entry level engineers. Guest speakers will come from career services, student organizations, various engineering departments, and industry.
Weekly meetings with an academic advisor are held to facilitate discussions about academic performance issues and academic opportunities.
Learning to balance your activities is key to your success. Therefore, the first day you will develop your own study schedule, taking into account your personal characteristics (for example, if you are a morning or evening person). Students are expected to adhere to this schedule; however, we will not supervise your daily activities.
STEP participants have the unique opportunity to attend leadership workshops developed by sponsoring companies. In prior years, Lockheed Martin, General Electric, and Cummins Engines have facilitated these workshops.
