This year's showcase was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in the Commonwealth Ballroom of Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech. Over 800 people attended the showcase and their experience included visiting with the 20 different companies represented. They could engage in discussions first hand with company reps on exciting technologies such as DyKnow, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Apple's latest and greatest, Fujitsu's ultra portable tablet PCs, and many more. The attendee received a door prize ticket for a Fujitsu Tablet PC when entering the showcase.

Attendees also had the opportunity to talk with the 17 student design teams and organizations represented including the Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory which showcased their various robots. DARwIn, a humanoid robot created by the Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory designed for entering a robot soccer competition, was a huge hit. The Railgun team who collaborates with the Navy had an outstanding poster along with their display.
Additionally, attendees could listen to over 10 faculty technology presentations. Topics covered included System-X, the supercomputer located on Tech campus,
Virtual Greenhouse, Production of Biofuels, the search for alternate fuels and others .
The 2007 Showcase had something for everyone. Over 99% of the companies attending felt that it was a benefit to their company and that the showcase should continue on a yearly basis. They also said they would attend next year. 95% of the attendees felt they gained something from the showcase and would also return next year. Don't miss it next year and mark your calendar for Tuesday, April 1, 2008. It will be held in the Commonwealth Ballroom of Squires again next year.

STC Showcase Mission Statement:
The Student Technology Council exists to demonstrate and advocate the uses of cutting edge technology for students and faculty. By exposing these groups to the latest in research, technology, and company innovations we hope to spark interest and advancement in all engineering fields for mutual enrichment and the evolution of society.
We hope to encourage the overall enrichment of education and research at Virginia Tech. Therefore, the showcase will be an opportunity to exhibit tools and technologies that will equip the engineer of the future.
