Engineering Departments


The College of Engineering strives to advance solutions of regional, national and global importance, specifically, in the fields of security, resilience, health, and sustainability.  Through partnerships with fellow academic institutions, government organizations and private industry, research efforts are interdisciplinary in nature, use a multi-organizational and multi-national approach, and emphasize the importance of collaborative innovation.

The College of Engineering’s well-earned reputation for innovation and leadership is rooted in its thirteen engineering departments and the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering and Science and the Myers Lawson School of Construction.   With more than 50 research centers and numerous laboratories, the college offers its research opportunities in advanced fields of study such as biomedical engineering, state-of-the-art microelectronics, and nanotechnology.
