Dr. Lori Wagner, Honeywell's manager of technology for the Advanced Fibers and Composites segment of the Performance Products business, has been named Engineer of the Year by the Richmond Joint Engineers Council.
Joining Honeywell at the former AlliedSignal in 1986, Wagner initially worked on the commercialization of Spectra fiber. Since that time, she has held positions in other fiber businesses within the company, ranging from commercial positions to research and development.
A graduate of Virginia Tech, Wagner holds a bachelor's of science degree and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering with a concentration in polymer processing and theology. She founded and currently serves on the university's Department of Chemical Engineering Advisory Board. Wagner has served as chair for both the College of Engineering and Minorities in Engineering Advisory Boards. In recognition of her efforts, the university awarded her the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Engineering. In August 2006, Wagner also was appointed to a four-year term on Virginia Tech's Board of Visitors.
An avid boater who competitively races sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay, Wagner volunteers at the YMCA where she coaches children's soccer and swim teams.
