Shannon is a senior in mechanical engineering. She was introduced to the mentoring program as a mentee during her freshman year, was a mentor during my junior year, and and now is a Peer Mentor. Shannon’s favorite mentoring activity is Moe’s Monday for “great conversation over burritos, chips, and salsa!”
Originally from New Freedom, Pennsylvania, Shannon designed equipment for Nike in Beaverton, Oregon during the summer in 2011 and interned at GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio, this past summer. Ice cream is Shannon’s favorite food, and she sometimes eats it for breakfast. Through the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program, she traveled to France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland with 20 other Hokies. She lives for football Saturdays in the fall! One of Shannon’s favorite quotes is, "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." - Steve Prefontaine Email: shan114@vt.edu |

Kori, a junior in electrical engineering, was a BEST mentee her freshman year and a mentor her sophomore year. Kori has stayed with the program because “it’s a great way to help fellow engineering students succeed and grow.” Her favorite mentoring activity is eating out with her team at Moe’s. This past summer, Kori was a Train Control Intern at GE Transportation. One of her favorite things about VT is Hokie football and marching clarinet in the Marching Virginians! She also enjoys playing Women’s Club Rugby in the spring. Time management is one of the most important skills Kori has learned. She believes that learning to juggle homework and studying with fun activities and group involvement is the key to being successful in college. Email: kprice92@vt.edu |

Andrew Rogers received his BS in mechanical engineering, math, and Spanish in 2011, and he is now pursuing a PhD in aerospace engineering. This is his third year with the peer mentoring program, serving as a mentor from 2010 - 2011, and as a team leader from 2011 to the present. Andrew stayed with it because “I love to meet new people and help young engineers learn how to transition into college life successfully.” The best time he had with his mentees was when he took them to “Tijuana Toss” at PK’s and winning all four pizzas free! Andrew loves the VT campus and surrounding area, and he asks, “Who don’t love the football games?!” He also loved having the opportunity to represent the VT varsity swim team for his first four years in school! The best thing Andrew has learned in his academic career so far is how to manage time effectively and be as productive as possible. Email: arog3632@vt.edu |

Angela is a senior in civil and environmental engineering who has been involved with the peer mentoring program for five years. She was a mentee her freshman year, a mentor during her sophomore and junior years, and a peer leader her senior year. Angela has stayed with the program because “it has allowed me to stay on track with my education, learn about different resources on campus that are available, and meet a great deal of wonderful people.” Her favorite mentoring activity is taking her team to PKs where they try their luck with the Tijuana Toss for free pizza. Angela’s favorite thing about VT is watching Hokie football! Email: gela16@vt.edu |
