Gordie Follin is the engineering leader of marine and industrial products for General Electric (GE) Aviation, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Follin is responsible for the development and support of aero-derivative gas turbines for the oil and gas, energy, and marine markets. Prior to accepting this position, he was responsible for leading the development and configuration management of aircraft engine designs for all aviation products from product development through fleet support. With GE, Mr. Follin has also held roles in aftermarket services with emphasis on performance and reliability upgrades. He was awarded two patents for his work developing remote monitoring and diagnostic capability for gas turbines.
Mr. Follin, a native of Virginia, attended Virginia Tech and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering. He began his professional career with Pratt & Whitney as a performance engineer supporting the Joint Strike Fighter program for the military engines business. After four years with Pratt, Mr. Follin joined GE in 2000 as a performance engineer for the energy services business in Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. Follin has previously served as the corporate recruiting leader for GE at Virginia Tech with focus on recruiting and research collaboration. He is passionate about community development and leads many student tutoring, mentoring, and community service projects. He also enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and home restoration projects. He is married to Michelle, also a Hokie, and has two daughters.
