Responsiblities
Catherine Amelink joined the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech in April 2011 and assumed the role of Research Analyst and Assessment Specialist. She is responsible for assessment and evaluation of several educational programs based in the Dean's Office, development efforts for the Office of the Associate Dean for Instructional Technology and International Programs and the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity, and accreditation and getting strategic planning initiatives underway.
Education
In 1997 Catherine received her B.A. in History and Secondary Education from James Madison University. She received a Master's of Education from James Madison University in 1998 and her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 2003.
Background
Catherine's collective experience provides us with a background that includes positions that have played an active role at the college, university, and state level. Prior to accepting her position with us, she has held assessment related positions at Virginia Tech including ones with Distance and Distributed Learning, the Center for Instructional Development and Educational Research, and the Division of Student Affairs. She served as the Assessment Coordinator for Undergraduate Education at University of Maryland University College. Her accomplishments include working as Coordinator of Special Projects in the Provost’s Office here at Virginia Tech and as an intern for the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Engineering Education.
