2011 College of Engineering Dean's Awards for Excellence

At the fourteenth annual engineering faculty reception, awards were presented to engineering faculty for teaching innovation, research, service, and outreach for 2011. Five outstanding new assistant professors were also recognized.
The Dean’s Awards for Teaching Innovation were presented to: John Casali of industrial and systems engineering, Vinod Lohani of engineering education, and Michael Philen of aerospace and ocean engineering.
The Dean’s Awards for Research Excellence were presented to: David Dillard of engineering science and mechanics, William Ducker of chemical engineering, Dennis Hong of mechanical engineering, Shashank Priya of mechanical engineering and materials science and engineering, and Anbo Wang of electrical and computer engineering.
Receiving the Dean’s Awards for Service were: Alex Aning of materials science and engineering, Clay Gabler of the school of biomedical engineering and sciences, and Manuel Perez-Quinones of computer science.
Receiving the Outstanding New Assistant Professor Awards were: Joseph Baker of electrical and computer engineering, Jaime Camelio of the industrial and systems engineering department, Alex Leonessa of mechanical engineering, Kray Luxbacher of mining and minerals engineering, and Cornel Sultan of aerospace and ocean engineering.
The College of Engineering Faculty Fellows, an award that carries an annual $5000 account for the next three fiscal years to support his or her research, were presented to: Masoud Agah of electrical and computer engineering, Maura Borrego of engineering education, Rafael Davalos of the School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences, Wu Feng of computer science and electrical and computer engineering, Michael Roan of mechanical engineering, and Percival Zhang of biological systems engineering.
The Dean also presented the W.S.”Pete” White Award in Engineering Education to Chris Williams who holds a joint appointment in engineering education and mechanical engineering.
The College Award for Outreach Excellence went to Rolf Mueller of mechanical engineering and Tonya Smith Jackson of industrial and systems engineering.
The four Certificates of Teaching Excellence were also presented to: Wing Ng of mechanical engineering, Mark Pierson of mechanical engineering, Tim Pratt of electrical and computer engineering, and Mark Widdowson of civil and environmental engineering.
