VT KnowledgeWorks will present the Third Annual Entrepreneurship Summit on April 13 and 14 at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, Blacksburg, Va. This two-day workshop is custom designed for prospective company founders, entrepreneurs launching or re-vamping a business, and growing companies seeking expansion capital.
The first day of the Entrepreneurship Summit, April 13, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., including the finals of two Student Business Concept Competitions and a Technology Showcase featuring the latest regional high-tech companies. The Student Business Concept Competitions showcase students throughout Virginia and western North Carolina as they test their business concepts before a panel of faculty and local business leaders.
The winning teams in both the Virginia Tech and Regional Student Competitions receive a $5,000 cash prize. Both first place teams also qualify to compete in the 2011 VT KnowledgeWorks Global Student Challenge for which the team will receive a week-long, expense-paid celebration of student entrepreneurship and may win the $25,000 grand prize.
The Entrepreneurship Summit extends into another full day on April 14 when four ready-to-fund companies will present before a panel of angel investors. The Open Angel Forum is a live pitch session providing a unique opportunity to understand how capital is raised, with real companies and investors.
Some of the outstanding speakers on April 14 include Mike Drzal, attorney and shareholder in LeClairRyan, Bob Reiss, author of Bootstrapping 101, andGreg Ip, author of The Little Book of Economics: How the Economy works in the Real World (Little Books. Big Profits).
