Michael “Vinny” Velotta graduated from Virginia Tech in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in computer science.
While attending college, Mr. Velotta was employed as a systems engineer with Microsoft and spent three years as a resident advisor in Pritchard Hall. For Microsoft, he developed web and database applications to support the MS Developer Network platform.
Also, from 1995-2008, Mr. Velotta was the president of Lore Internet Systems, a leading international information technology consulting firm, providing world class managed data center hosting and co-location services, virtualization, hosted IP communications, telework, and high end information technology networking and security solutions, serving a diverse set of over 400 domestic and international clients across a broad spectrum of industries and requirements.
After graduation, Mr. Velotta became a partner in The Renaissance Group, an Internet travel consolidator. Mr. Velotta managed a team of developers that engineered traditional mainframe travel systems such as Sabre into the World Wide Web; much of the same software is today used to power companies like Travelocity.com.
Currently, Mr. Velotta is an investor and active partner with Intelishift Technologies, providing premier data center solutions, co-location, cloud computing, managed hosting and services that help extend and enhance technology infrastructure.
Mr. Velotta is a board member and emergency medical technician with Arcola Volunteer Fire and Rescue, serving Loudoun County, Va. He is the chairman of the VCI Group, providing equity financing and assistance to the management of early-stage information technology, land development, and commercial real estate companies. He is also a board member on the Heritage Palms golf and country club, the Heritage Bay golf and country club, and CXO Forum, a non-profit management-consulting firm.
Mr. Velotta is married to Ieva Zvirblyte, a certified public accountant who was born in Lithuania and came to the U.S. in 2000. He will also welcome a third daughter in September.
