Lorin Sodell is the plant manager for Crosspointe, the new Rolls-Royce aerospace manufacturing center in Prince George County, Va. In this role, Mr. Sodell has overseen the design and launch of the manufacturing facilities and directed plant start-up activities including staffing, process validation, and production acceleration. Since the site became operational in mid-2011, he has been leading the acceleration of manufacturing operations for gas turbine engine discs.
Mr. Sodell has 27 years of manufacturing and engineering experience. He began his career at General Motors (GM) where he was responsible for the launch of an automotive engine manufacturing plant and establishment of global standard processes and standard work systems for manufacturing engineering. After GM, Mr. Sodell held executive positions at United Technologies Corporation in lean manufacturing, facilities management, global operations, and manufacturing engineering. He joined Rolls-Royce in 2006 as manufacturing engineering director and acting senior vice president of manufacturing and assembly, both in Indianapolis, Ind.
Mr. Sodell received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and a master’s of business from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Minn.
