Joe Meredith earned his undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering in 1969, and obtained his doctorate in industrial and systems engineering in 1997, both from Virginia Tech. He is the President of the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, started in 1985.
At present, the CRC has 150 tenants in 29 completed buildings with another 18 buildings planned on its 210 acres of land. Dr. Meredith is attracting about 20 new tenant companies per year with a private company failure rate of an unbelievably low 3 percent per year. About 2600 people work at the park. In 2003, the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine opened its doors at the CRC. In 2009, Dr. Meredith added space for a secured facility at the park.
