Buford Lewis retired in April 2009 from ExxonMobil after holding senior positions in technology development and application, strategic and investment planning, energy forecasting, supply and asset management, and energy advocacy. His thirty-seven year career involved assignments with increasing responsibilities in Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia as well as the U.K., Germany and Belgium.
Prior to becoming ExxonMobil’s Senate lobbyist in January 2005, he was worldwide manager for fuels development and policy planning in ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Co. with business responsibility for advanced fuels and vehicles research and development.
Mr. Lewis holds degrees in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech. He was recognized by “The Hill” in 2008 as one of the top corporate lobbyists in D.C. Currently, he also serves on the advisory board for the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences.
