Lockheed Martin celebrated its Technology Day on the Virginia Tech campus, presenting the College of Engineering with a $100,000 check.
The one-day event included a “trade show” of booths showcasing various Lockheed Martin business lines, innovative technologies, and products.
Virginia Tech is seen as a “core school” for Lockheed Martin’s recruiting and research efforts, and this event comes to each of Lockheed’s core schools once in about five years. According to Susan Chong, Lockheed Martin’s campus relations manager, this technology day is the corporation’s opportunity to inform the campus about the wide variety of activities conducted by the corporation.
Lockheed Martin has a strong history of partnering with Virginia Tech. Since 2000, the company has provided more than $500,000 in philanthropic support to the university.
Lockheed Martin is headquartered in Bethesda, Md.
