Computer Requirement For Summer/Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 Entering Students

All Freshmen and Transfer Engineering Students entering Summer and Fall 2012 are expected to purchase the following items:Fujitsu T900

  1. A convertible tablet pc or alternative combination of devices meeting our minimum specifications (below)
  2. University Undergraduate Bundle
  3. Engineering Software Bundle

Alternative Solutions - New slate technologies have allowed us to expand our requirements to give students more flexibility and choice in how they meet our computer requirement this year. Depending on what type of mobile device you already own, this option may be less expensive.  More Information.

Please review our statement on "Deviation from the Requirement" before making your purchase. We recommend not purchasing your new computer until June to ensure the widest selection, lowest prices and latest technology offerings.

Financial Aid Information:

$2,500 is included in the total cost of attendance for the purchase of a computer and associated peripherals for all first-year students at Virginia Tech.  This in effect increases the amount of financial assistance students may be eligible for their first year. It is not included in later years. Please take this into consideration when making your decision regarding our tablet PC requirement.
