How the Program Works

A typical student in this program would attend classes at a remote classroom in Virginia. Receive sites provide administrative support, limited library facilities, computer access, and special classrooms. Materials distribution and homework submission are handled by mail, e-mail, and/or web sites.

Through the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program, a working engineer can earn a master's degree in 3 to 5 years. Application is made to the school from which you wish to obtain your degree. Students can combine courses from the originating universities and the local supporting institutions to create individually appropriate programs of study.

All courses are regular university offerings. The degree, a Master of Engineering, is the same that would be earned by an on-grounds student. Students in the off-campus program are invited to attend graduation ceremonies when they have completed the program.
