Featured Faculty--Timothy Pratt

Timothy Pratt is a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department with research interests in satellite communications and position location systems. He has taught CGEP courses for the last 20 years, and was the Director of CGEP for Virginia Tech from 1998 - 2000. He has acted as Director for Distance Learning in Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Virginia Tech for the past 10 years. He enjoys teaching satellite communications, communication system design, and radar. Dr. Pratt has co-authored two editions of a textbook, Satellite Communications, with fellow professors Charles Bostion (Virginia Tech) and Jeremy Allnutt (George Mason University), published by John Wiley and Sons.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom in 1968. He is a member of the IEE (UK) and a senior member of IEEE in the United States. Dr. Pratt was a winner of the Wine Award in 2004, a University award for outstanding teaching.
