Application

  • Prospective non-degree seeking students: Go to VTOnline and complete the “Commonwealth Campus Application”. Consult the appropriate deadlines below to determine the correct application to complete.

NOTE: Applying to the Virginia Tech graduate school under the Commonwealth Campus status enables students to take 12 semester hours before formal acceptance into a master's degree program. Each University offers specific master's degrees with little overlap. This program offers an excellent opportunity for working engineers to update skills or learn about a new technology.   • “Expedited Graduate Application” students will be admitted on a one-time basis under Commonwealth Campus status.  Application can be found on VTOnline.  Students wishing to continue their enrollment MUST apply again prior to the next semester using the appropriate degree-seeking or non-degree seeking application.

NOTE: CGEP students can waive the Commonwealth Campus Application fee by recording “VTG_CGEP” along with the student’s initials in the “Office Use Only” box on the supplemental (last) page of the application. To waive the Expedited Application fee, please include a memo stating you are applying to the CGEP program when submitting the form to the VT Graduate School.

  • Current CGEP students enrolled full-time from another CGEP consortia university interested in a VT course: Please complete the Application for Visiting Graduate Student. (Students enrolled part-time will need to fill out the Commonwealth Campus Application).

NOTE: CGEP students currently enrolled at another CGEP consortia university can waive the application fee by recording on the application that they are a CGEP student.
