Undergraduate Programs

Peer Mentoring

All first-year CoE students are offered the opportunity to be matched with a mentor from a select group of upper-class CoE students who offer support and assistance by serving as resources for academic issues, assisting in developing skills, and acting as a sounding board for new thoughts and ideas
Residential Programs Residential programs such as Hypatia and Galileo bring together first year engineering students in a residential environment to provided support and encouragement to each other.
Women's Preview Weekend Women’s Preview Weekend gives women who have been accepted to the College of Engineering an opportunity to view the campus and make an informed decision about attending college at VT.
Student Transition Engineering Program (STEP) STEP provides incoming COE students an opportunity to become familiar with the VT community and enables personal growth prior to the start of their academic career.

Pre-College Programs

CTech2

CTech2, a two week residential camp, encourages rising junior and senior high school girls to explore science and engineering with hands on experiments and applications in ways that are fun and exciting.

Pre-College Initiative--PCI

PCI, coordinated by the student organization National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), is designed to strengthen students’ in grade 6-12 overall academic knowledge while raising their academic and career aspirations by exposing them to hands-on science, math, and engineering activities while visiting the Virginia Tech campus several weekends over the academic year.

Imagination

Imagination is a day camp in which middle-school students are introduced to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through challenging but entertaining hands-on activities, stimulating their interest in these areas.

OcEaNa A hands-on engineering camp, OcEaNA, held in the Tidewater region of Virginia, provides an opportunity to build their own underwater robot and to learn about oceans and ocean exploration.
