Seminar Event

Location: 310 ICTAS-1

Dr. William F. Brinkman, Director of the Office Science, U.S. Department of Energy, will give a seminar entitled, Science for Energy Sustainability

In examining progress in the drive to reduce the amount  of C02 emitted  into  the atmosphere, the Office of Science and the rest of the Department  of Energy have driven research on new technologies  from  solar cells to biofuels, from  efficiency gains in jet engines to better  ways to manage the energy use in homes.  We have also witnessed a revolution in the availability  of natural gas that  was based on long-term research of the Department.   This talk will review the situation  with  respect to global warming  and many  of  the  new  ideas  that  we  have  regarding  advances in science that will help mitigate the problems of energy use.
