Mission Statement

The College of Engineering Development Office serves its mission by securing resources to enrich the College's students, faculty and programs. The Development Office fosters meaningful relationships between the College, its friends, alumni, and corporate partners, striving to match donors' philanthropic interests with opportunities to impact the College in reaching new levels of excellence in education, research, and public service.

Google Visits Campus

Dr. Dennis Kafura, department head of computer science, introduces Kevin Scott from Google

 

Kevin Scott, a software engineer at Google, recently presented a seminar to our engineering students about careers in computer science. Kevin also leads the search quality engineering organization in Google's New York City Office. He is a recipient of a 2005 Google Founders Award for technical contributions to Google's ad quality program. Kevin is also a recipient of a 2001 Intel Foundation Fellowship.

Before working for Google, Kevin was a visiting instructor of computer science at the University of Goettingen in Goettingen, Germany.

Kevin is an alum of Wake Forest University, Lynchburg College, and the Central Virginia Governor's School for Science and Technology. He was an undergraduate researcher at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and a graduate researcher at SGI/Cray Research and Microsoft Research.
