Prospective Transfer Students

Transferring into the College of Engineering

In order to receive an offer of admission as a transfer student to Tech's College of Engineering you must have at minimum:

  • 1 full year of calculus (equivalent to VT's MATH 1205-1206)
  • 1 full year of chemistry (CHEM 1035/1045 + 1036/1046)* or 1 year of calculus-based Physics (equivalent to VT's PHYS 2305-2306)
  • 1 full year of English composition (equivalent to VT's ENGL 1105-1106)
  • overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

*all engineering majors EXCEPT Chemical require only the first half of chemistry (CHEM 1035/1045) for degree requirements, but for admission requirements we need to see a full-year of a lab science, either chemistry or calculus-based physics.

In addition, we recommend courses in the following areas:

  • Linear Algebra (MATH 1114)
  • Differential Equations (MATH 2214)
  • Multivariable Calculus (MATH 2224)
  • Engineering fundamentals courses (ENGE 1024 + ENGE 1104 or 1114)

You will find current tuition rates under the Student section of the Bursar's website (www.bursar.vt.edu).

Applications to enter during the summer or fall semester are due on February 15 of the year you intend to enter (we do not accept applications for the spring semester).
