An Engineering Perspective

Men in Engineering Learning Community

Galileo

Galileo is designed to incorporate similar aspects of Hypatia, but with a focus toward issues that male engineers face in the growing competitive marketplace. Galileo students not only attend classes together; the learning environment now extends well beyond the classroom into the residential experience for Galileo participants.

The men’s learning community is named for Galileo Galilei, a man who recognized the merit in describing physical observation in terms of mathematics.

Albert Einstein considered Galileo to be “… the father of modern physics--indeed of modern science altogether.”

Galileo developed the foundational ideas for Newton's laws. In referring to his dependence on Galileo's work, Newton wrote, "If I have seen further it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants." We hope that your engineering learning community will support you similarly, offering a view with an advantage--an engineering perspective.
