Eastman Engineering Merit Scholarship

1.      The scholarship will be $4,000 divided into two semesters or three quarters to be used for tuition and fees during the senior year. The scholarship will be paid after completion of an internship.         

2.      Scholars will be selected in the second semester or quarter of their sophomore year.

3.      The scholarship will be renewable for two semesters or three quarters provided the scholars maintain minimum cumulative GPA requirements and maintain full-time student status for each term paid by the scholarship.

4.      Scholar candidates will be selected by the College of Engineering or Minority Engineering Office.  They will be interviewed by the Eastman Representative responsible for college relations at the school.  The college/office should present a minimum of three candidates to be interviewed for the scholarship (suggested).  Students should be in a Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering program.

5.      Candidates for this engineering scholarship will be of the following ethnic classifications:

·         African American

·         Hispanic

·         Asian American

·         Native American

·         A student of any race that is economically or socially disadvantaged. 

6.      Scholar candidates will be required to be in the top 25% of their class.

7.      The minimum cumulative GPA to maintain the scholarship will be 3.0 and a consistent semester/quarter performance of 3.0.  Transcripts should be sent to Eastman prior to invoice for scholarship payment.

8.      Beyond the minimal academic requirements, the selection will focus on the dimensions identified as key behaviors for Eastman.

·         Judgment

·         Analysis

9.      Scholars will be required to work an internship for Eastman prior to their graduation, if positions are offered.  Students shall be notified by the Eastman Co-op/Intern Coordinator regarding the upcoming internship openings.

10.  Scholars must be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident who intends to become a US citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law.
